Registered Agent Services in New York City

Registered Agents are often required for companies that conduct business in New York City. For example, the NYC Department of Buildings requires a Registered Agent or “Named Agent” with an address within the 5 boroughs on Form LIC50: AUTHORIZATION FOR SERVICE OF PROCESS by AGENT. This form is used Architects, Special Inspection Agencies, and other licensees.

The New York City Department of Consumer and Worker Protection, The New York Department of Labor and the New York Business Integrity Commission also have similar Registered Agent Requirements within New York City.

Some businesses are not required to have a Registered Agent. In New York, Registered Agents are not required by Statute, meaning, you do not legally need to have one just because you have a company registered in New York State. However, even regular LLCs that are not legally required to have a Registered Agent still often have one. Registered Agents can be helpful in many scenarios. For example, we file Biennial Statements to keep our Clients renewed and in good standing with NYS, we handle legal and tax documents on behalf of our Clients, and we are able to receive and advise on service of process and many other issues.
